It is a three-colour reduction linocut, made by a repeat process of inking the plate with a colour, printing the whole image that colour, then cutting away the parts of the plate you wish to remain that colour.
The Dartmoor valley containing Widecombe in the Moor, made famous by the song Widecombe Fair and the actual fair, which is held each September, is a few miles from my home in South Devon. The view from the top down into the valley is stunning – a patchwork of ancient fields and houses, with moorland above. This print was made from a sketch drawn sitting looking down at that view.
